Hollywood wants to make ‘Brexit: The Movie’

Hollywood casting agents may soon be looking for someone to take on the role of Nigel Farage.

Warner Brothers is in talks to option the film rights to the book “The Bad Boys of Brexit,” according to the Telegraph.

The book by Arron Banks, the millionaire backer of both UKIP and Leave.EU, charts the campaigning of Farage, Banks, and their allies in the run-up to the June referendum on Britain’s membership of the European Union.

Warner Brothers declined to comment when contacted by Business Insider.

Banks didn’t immediately responded to Business Insider’s request for comment. We will update when we hear back.

However, the Telegraph report quotes Banks’ spokesperson Andy Wigmore as saying: “We have had some very serious Hollywood people in touch with us who are going to buy the rights to the book. They want to buy the option on it.” Wigmore adds that any money made from the film would go to charity.

Subtitled “Tales of mischief, mayhem, & guerilla warfare in the EU referendum campaign,” Banks’ book includes accounts of Farage taking on Bob Geldof during a flotilla stand-off between the Leave and Remain sides on the Thames.

The Daily Mail described “The Bad Boys of Brexit” as “overflowing with venom and farce” and its author Banks as “instinctively confrontational, the sort of troublemaker who can’t see a lawn without gleefully parking his tanks on it.” Farage, Banks, and their allies nicknamed themselves the “Brex Pistols,” giving you an idea of how they saw themselves – punk rock politicians who didn’t care about ruffling feathers.

Banks was a former Conservative Party backer, but donated £1 million to UKIP after former Tory leader William Hague called him a “nobody.”
